都大去年底獲香港特區政府撥款逾 2,200 萬港元以設立模擬飛行教研室，為修 讀航空服務管理榮譽工商管理學士課程的學生提供先進的實務訓練。該撥款由 教育局自資專上教育提升及啟動補助金計劃批出。 配備空中巴士 A350 飛行模擬器的模擬飛行教研室將為上述課程兩個專修範疇 「見習機師」和「管理及營運」的學生提供逼真的駕駛艙環境，以及行業導向 的訓練，令學生可練習並掌握與航空交通管理、地勤等不同團隊協作的模式。 模擬飛行教研室亦有助專修見習機師的學生在海外接受飛行訓練前，熟習相關 運作。 專修見習機師範疇的四年級學生 Vismaya Vijayan （右圖）取得都大獎學金修讀 其學士課程，現於美國加州 IASCO 飛行訓練學校受訓。選修「見習機師」專修 範疇的學生除了可獲頒學位，同時可透過香港國際航空學院為期 14 個月的見 習機師培訓課程，分別在香港和美國接受地面理論課程及飛行訓練，從而取得 商用飛行員執照。 Vismaya 表示，都大課程為其飛行訓練奠下良好基礎，令她 更加了解航空法規、停機坪運作和團隊合作。 模擬飛行教研室為航空業培訓人才 Flight Simulation Laboratory to nurture aviation talent
HKMU secured a government grant of more than HK$22 million late last year to establish a Flight Simulation Laboratory, where hands-on training will be provided to students enrolling in the Bachelor of Business Administration with Honours in Aviation Services Management programme. The funding was awarded under the Education Bureau’s Enhancement and Start-up Grant Scheme for Self-financing Post-secondary Education. Equipped with an Airbus A350 flight simulator, the laboratory will offer a realistic flight deck environment and industry-oriented training for students in both the Cadet Pilot and the Management and Operations concentrations of the programme. Students will be able to practise multi- crew cooperation and learn how to interact with air traffic control and ground handling teams. The facility will also allow Cadet Pilot students to familiarise themselves with operations before they progress to overseas flying training. Vismaya Vijayan (pictured), a fourth-year student in the Cadet Pilot concentration, who is undergoing training at IASCO, a flight training school in California, says her studies at HKMU had provided a strong foundation for pilot training. She is pursuing her HKMU degree with a scholarship awarded by the University. Under the Cadet Pilot concentration, students will obtain a Commercial Pilot Licence in addition to their degree through the Hong Kong International Aviation Academy’s 14-month Cadet Pilot Programme, which comprises a theoretical knowledge instruction course in Hong Kong and flying training in the United States. Vismaya notes that her university training had strengthened her understanding of aviation regulations, ramp operations and teamwork.
